I have grown fond of the superhero movies both DC and Marvel franchises, lately; courtesy, resurrection of Batman franchise by Christopher Nolan 4 years back following unexpectedly hit, 2 hrs entertaining saga of “merc with a mouth”, Deadpool, this year . Indeed , I haven’t seen any of the “Avengers” franchise before Civil War and ; therefore, I can say that being a first time audience of the series I not only enjoyed it without carrying any baggage but thanks to the linear, (little non-linear) plot and a well written script nothing baffled me on the screen , not even a multitude of Super Heroes.

Captain America: Civil War is a funfair of superheroes. It’s a treat for the marvel fans with a story weaving all emotions of guilt, accountability, friendship, betrayal, vengeance and loyalty. In total, it is a typical Hollywood pot-boiler blockbuster; besides, it’s one of the most well written and mature script than the recent superhero franchises.

Civil War borrows its plot from 2006 comic of the same name where after a mission gets accomplished  by Avengers, leaving many people killed,  US Secretary of State, Ross(William McChord Hurt), informs the team that UN wants to pass Sokovia Accords which is basically for controlling the Avengers in their future endeavors. And, this divides the Avengers  as Iron Man laden with guilt for the damage feeling that the control is necessary whereas Captain America not trusting any other’s judgement over them.  The situation further roughens up when Winter Soldier is seen in a security camera walking away from the bombed building site which kills  T’Chaka and leading to infuriating  Black Panther for the vengeance of his father’s(T’Chaka) death. Cap.America confronts Barnes only to know that he was brainwashed and protects him from Black Panther’s retaliation attack. This begins Civil War.  Falcon E and Scarlet Witch go Team Captain whereas Iron Man assembles War Machine, Vision , Cross Bones and Black panther. Black Widow get teared up in between.

The scriptwriters smartly weave two hook points in the story to divide the Avengers with each super-hero contributing substantially to their team and go an extra mile for creating possibilities for recruitment of another three Marvel Super Heroes being Spider-Man recruited by Iron Man and Hawkeye as well as Ant Man by Captain America.

Anthony and Joe Russo give us a major Super-Hero riot with just right does of emotions where those fighting evils are ironically battling each other over saving the world from damages caused by them in future. It’s Captain America’s Righteousness Vs Iron Man’s vulnerable vengeance and it becomes difficult for the loyals to pick one, but every avenger gets to shine in their part equally and appear more than just supporting cast.

Spider Man, Ant Man and Hawkeye bring required comic relief . I had never enjoyed Spider Man as much before this stint. Black Widow and Black panther are fiery and the chemistry between Scarlet Witch and Vision is endearing. The audiences are going to remember each avenger distinctively on leaving the hall and the makers of film may encash this by launching individual franchise for each avenger.

Chris Evans is as charming and effortless as it gets and the crooked, confused, charismatic, guilt laden Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.carries ahead his millions worth legacy. The VFX team has done wonders and took astonishment to another level by creating Robert Jr’s teen look. Special mention for Scarlett Johansson’s top notch performance, Elizabeth Olsen gets to display her amazing action skills, Tom Holland’s lovable Spider Man and Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo as the subtle, chillingly dreadful antagonist soaked in revenge.

Russo brothers give us a realistic (in comparison) and  mature SuperHero film where there are less mandatory collapsing of buildings and destruction of cities. The          screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely give us a thrilling ride weaving all ingredients  of quintessential block buster Super-Hero movie.  It’s a crazy avengers riot for the marvel fans but there is a tone of sincerity throughout the film and makers have took their job quite seriously.

But the special praise is deserved by the James Young for choreographing some fantastic battles sequences with well placed hand-to-hand fights, gang showdowns, chasing, running magnificiently displaying their weapons. The ultimate battle between both the teams in Airport is one of the most interestingly choreographed action sequence, ensuring that each Avenger gets to display their special powers. The final face-off between Captain America and Iron Man brings forth not only their power but their vulnerabilities too. It’s a reality check for the their loyal followers to see their heroes capable of saving the world , failing before each other. It’s nail biting showdown and is as difficult as getting teared up choosing between your two naive besties.

Captain America: Civil War ends with us asking for more . It’s the best Marvel movie till date. I can foresee a sequel.

That’s how Super-Hero movies are made.
